York County Community College hosted its first annual Joint Program Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 4 at the Wells campus. Incoming President Michael Fischer welcomed representatives from 48 local businesses, industries, and educational institutions, including Precision Screw, Shellback Artworks, Woodfords Family Services, Great Works Internet, the Wells Police Department, Sanford Regional Technical Center, the University of New England, and the University of Southern Maine, as well as Maine Community College System Trustee Jean Ginn Marvin of the Nonantum Resort, and YCCC Foundation members Michael Cleary of Benchmark Construction and Tim Fossett of the Lighthouse.
Program advisory committee members met with faculty to provide input on YCCC’s career and technical programs, sharing their expertise and experiences regarding program content and essential technology skills, brainstorming future employment trends in the region, and identifying the most important career readiness skills for YCCC students.
The feedback and suggestions from our community partners will help faculty to strengthen and grow their programs and to prepare YCCC graduates for success in the workplace.
